Nestled on beautiful Lake Apopka about 30 minutes west of Orlando in Central Florida, this former citrus industry hub is the proud home to over 30,000 residents and a wealth of West Orange County heritage and history. The downtown district, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and perched in the center of the West Orange Trail, is a favorite stop for cyclists. Visitors enjoy outdoor dining along the Trail at one of several restaurants, resting on the swings surrounding the fountain, or browsing the unique shops.

The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation invites you to visit our “charming little city with a juicy past!”

Since 1991, the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation has participated in the preservation and revitalization of what makes Winter Garden special, and has sought to educate adults and children about the city’s “juicy past” through tours, programs, events, and exhibitions. Through the efforts of friendly, committed volunteers, a small part time staff, and collaborations with the City of Winter Garden and other non-profit organizations, the Heritage Foundation hosts over 35,000 local, national and international visitors annually and operates the only two museums in our area: the Winter Garden Heritage Museum and the Central Florida Railroad Museum. Both are free and open to the public 350 days a year from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
